Perimeter Walk 2005
The walk was held on Monday morning, 9 am on May 9, 2005. It was
a pleasant 65 degrees and sunny, with minimal bugs. In attendance
were Myran Bell, Diane Rancont, Carol VanSpybrook, Cynthia Rose, Jeff
Masters, Julie Vance, and the author of this report, Diane
Hallinen. Mr. Bell did the Livingston side, Dr. Masters floated
in and out all over, and Ms. Rancont walked the Livingston side, and up
to post 99 on the Oakland side.
We started at the Main Park and headed up the Livingston side. Our
first concern was a brush and grass clipping
pile. We were not certain who to send a letter to, but we
will be asking around. This was in the vicinity of posts 74 and
75.
Our second concern was a plastic liner under a
path that led from lot L 76/77 to the path. You can see this problem between posts 62 and 63, in
the lagoon area. A letter was
sent to the owners of L77 requesting the removal of this plastic.
The owners of L77 state it was not their plastic. A letter was then sent to the owners of L76.
Everything was looking good until we came across some hacked down norway maples. Now, true, the
norway maple is a big problem invasive. However, there was no permit
granted for this, and frankly, it would not have been granted. This problem was seen between posts 49 and 50,
adjacent to lot L68. A letter was
sent. A reply from the owners of lot L68 stated that they did not
cut the trees.
Another cut norway was found between posts
48 and 49. A big problem was also noted here. A crude stairs was dug into the dirt of the
steep hillside. This area is a priority for the hillside erosion
project. A letter
was sent. The lot owner stated that their child was
responsible for the dug out steps.
The remainder of the Livingston side looked good. We then went
back to the park and inspected the Oakland side. The only letter
worthy encroachment on the Oakland side was adjacent to lot O137.
A small section of the greenbelt was mowed and
watered between posts 117 and
118. A woodpile is on the greenbelt
between posts 118 and
119. A letter
was sent.
