This budget is for planning purposes. Depending on weather conditions, this budget will be modified. Some years require more intensive control of garlic mustard. Glossy buckthorn will probably require minimal intervention in 2015. Dog stranglevine and asian bittersweet may require significantly more resources. In the past the vast majority of greenbelt work has been done by volunteers and student workers. We anticipate significant volunteer hours again, however, the greenbelt will require professional intervention to achieve control of asian bittersweet and dog stranglevine. Removal of mature norway maples also requires professional workers.

The policy of the greenbelt committee is to hire professionals who are sensitive to natural area management. Most landscaping companies will not be adequate. We do not want companies to bring in contaminated equipment, or companies who are not familiar with high quality natural areas.
