The Greenbelt is the common area that surrounds most of Dunham Lake. It is owned collectively by members of the DLPOA. It is private property. The State of Michigan owns Dunham Lake.

The DLPOA Board of Directors has a Greenbelt Committee whose duty is to manage the Greenbelt. A long range management plan is in effect and components of this plan include education, controlling invasive species, and selective planting of native species for habitat restoration and erosion management. The DLPOA Greenbelt Committee is responsible for an annual inspection of the perimeter of the Greenbelt. This inspection is done to ensure that encroachments into the Greenbelt are detected and reported to the Civic Committee in accordance with the Encroachment Abatement Procedure.
