Encroachment Report
May 2003
The annual perimeter walk was held May 15, 2003, which was a rather
rainy day. In attendance were Carol Schemanske, Carol Vanspybrook and
Diane Hallinen. This report was prepared by Diane Hallinen. Any questions
about this report can be sent to Diane at hallinen@yahoo.com.
This year a unique style of encroaching occurred. The paths
leading from properties through the common areas were touched up. Flowers
were planted, wood chips were placed, and excessive trimming occurred.
The usual mowing beyond the boundary and leaving boat parts and trash
on the park happened again. That sure is getting old.

Post numbers refer to the wooden 4x4 that mark the perimeter of the
common area. They are put in parentheses after the lot number. If you would
like to see an encroachment for yourself refer to the maps to determine where the posts are.
This is your land, go check it out.
Adjacent to Lot O137 (118-119) there
is about 20 square feet of mowing and some white pontoons on the greenbelt.
There is also mowing between posts 117 and 118. A letter was sent. A letter was also sent last year
and the reply stated the mowing would stop. It didn't.
The greenbelt adjacent to Lot O139 (115 -116) was raked, and pretty violets were planted along the path that leads from the lot to the trail. No
permit was requested or granted for this activity. This area was subject
to legal action a few years ago. We also spent money on this area a
few years ago by hiring a forester, Dave Mindel from Plantwise, who planted
native plants there. Plants that were planted include a Red Bud and native wild strawberries. I also planted some
tiny Red Bud in the area this spring, one of which was budding as of May 13, 2003. A bench was also
observed on the Greenbelt. A letter was sent
and the homeowner instructed to remove the plants by June 15, 2003.
A non-functional spigot was noted near Lot
O 141 (114). This spigot was not noted during the previous 4 years
of inspections. A letter was sent.
A small amount of mowing was seen adjacent to
Lot O 153 (100-101). A letter was sent.
A concrete deer was seen frolicking near Lot O167
(95-96). A letter was sent.
Adjacent to Lot O89 (very near post 84) a Charmglo
barbecue pipe with attached concrete was found on the greenbelt. A
letter was sent.
Two paths leading from lot L86 (76-77) and (75-76) to the
main trail were noted to have wood chips on
them. No permit was requested or granted for the placement of these wood chips.
A letter was sent and the lot owner instructed
to remove the wood chips by June 15, 2003.
Adjacent to Lot L81 (72-73) an arborvitae
was found on the greenbelt. No permit was requested or granted for this
planting. There was also trimming of vegetation seen. The brush was found near post 75. A letter was sent and the lot owner instructed to remove
the arborvitae by June 15, 2003.
A pine tree seedling with a wire cage was found
a ways from post 62 and 63. A letter was sent to a
nearby lot owner. A retroactive permit will be granted if this pine
tree is native. This planting was clearly not intended as an encroachment
and if it survives it will enhance the Greenbelt in this area.
